Stephen Hawking (1942–2018) was a British theoretical physicist known for his work in cosmology. He studied at Oxford and continued his research at Cambridge. Early in his career, he was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that gradually limited his movement. His work on singularities supported the idea that the universe began from a single point. Through both his research and books, he contributed to a broader understanding of the universe.
